Things to Do
More than any other area of Scotland the surrounding Grampian region offers the visitor a wealth of places to visit, things to do and see with new found experiences to be enjoyed. This really is 'Castle Country' with Scotland's only Castle trail and many of the National Trust's finest properties within easy reach of Kildrummy. A short drive over the hill is Balmoral Castle.
Nearby lies the Malt Whisky Trail featuring many of our most famous malt whisky distilleries, most of which welcome visitors and provide a guided tour along with a 'wee dram' of their famous produce. A visit to the Cooperage Centre provides an insight into the ancient art of cask making. To allow you to enjoy your visit to the full we can arrange chauffeer driven day tours for parties up to 14 persons .
The sportsman too will find much on offer with over 20 golf courses nearby, trout and salmon fishing on the Rivers Don, Dee and Deveron. In Winter, skiing can be enjoyed at the Lecht slopes only 20 minutes away. Clay pigeon shooting can be arranged at a local shooting ground. Pony treking and horse riding is available at nearby riding centers.
Along with the Great Garden at Pitmedden and the gardens of Crathes Castle, the renowned Kildrummy Castle gardens feature an extensive collection of rare alpines, shrubs and specimen trees. In nearby Strathdon, the gardens at Candacraig welcome visitors to the gardens and art gallery. For the motor enthusiast a visit to the Transport Museum in Alford is a must.
