Mary Queen of
Scots Bedchamber
This beautiful chamber was once occupied by the tragic Queen
and pictures and books about her help to set the scene. With
its beautiful four poster bed, draped in rich red tapestries
and curtains, this bedchamber is often used as the honeymoon
suite and it will make you feel like royalty on your wedding
day. Your en-suite bathroom was originally the servant's sleeping
quarters, but has been sympathetically modernised and transformed. |
|
Earl of Bothwell
Bedchamber
The Queen's husband would of course, have his bedchamber close
by to that of his wife. The four poster bed is elegantly decorated
with tapestry drapes and covers and a portrait of the Earl adorns
one wall. |
|
Lord Borthwick
Bedchamber
The Lord Borthwick is the only bedchamber situated on the Great
Hall level. Named for the first Lord Borthwick who was rewarded
for his loyalty to King James I by being granted a charter to
build the Castle. This bedchamber has a queen-sized double bed,
chaise-longue and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. |
|
The Red Room
With its red-trimmed four poster bed, red velvet curtains and
flocked red walls, as well as its intriguing red-curtained wall
niches the Red Room presents a dramatic, yet warm and comfortable
impression. Ask the staff and you will be given many different
tales of what may or may not have happened in this room and whether
or not it is haunted. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, this
remains one of our most popular bedchambers. |
|
The Gatehouse
Tower
The circular Gatehouse is separate from the main Castle building,
but of course, with full use of the Castle facilities. The layout
of the Gatehouse Tower makes it an ideal family apartment, but
can equally well be used as individual rooms.
Tower One is a Standard twin room with bath, while Tower Two
(pictured) has a Double Four Poster Bed and bath. Additionally,
it contains a kitchenette with fridge, sink, kettle and microwave
and can easily accommodate an extra bed and/or cot. |
|
The Sinclair Room (Double)
At the top of the South Tower with a spectacular view of the
surrounding countryside, the Sinclair Room has a Double four
poster bed and shower room. |
|
The Adinston Room (Double)
At the top of the North Tower, the Adinston Room has a Double
four poster bed and shower room. |
|
The Walnut Room (Twin)
In the South Tower, above Lord Borthwick and below the Red Room,
the Walnut Room has 2 single beds and a shower room. |
|
The Scott Room (Twin)
In the North Tower, off the Minstrel Gallery the Scot Room has
2 single beds and a shower room. |
