Glenlo Abbey Hotel located in Galway in the West of Ireland has a wealth of activities for guests.
Golf on our private 9-hole double green lakeside course, practice in the 12-bay driving range and on hand is our resident professional to coach beginners and the more experienced.

Fishing is a passion at Glenlo Abbey. Our professional ghillie, Jim Riddell will take you to the better spots on the lake for fly and coarse fishing. Take a cruise aboard a flat bottomed lake boat or enjoy archery and clay pigeon shooting.

Clay Pigeon Shooting is available on-site. Terry Tyson, will bring you down to the end of the estate by the waters edge. Under the guidance of an expert, your group can enjoy this sport, with safety being of the utmost importance.

In the Galway Region (Just a few of the opportunities available)

Aran Islands - Can be visited by either boat (Aran Ferries: 091 - 568903) or plane (Aer Arann : 091 - 593034). The trip from Galway by boat takes 90 minutes across Galway Bay to the Islands. Attractions on the Island include the impressive Bronze Age Fort of Dun Aengus (over 2000 years old), and many other ancient monuments. The trip by plane is much shorter and flies you over Dun Aengus for a superb aerial view.

Deep Sea Fishing - The Aran Islands, Roundstone and Clifden are all good for Blue Shark fishing, which are all released again. Fully equipped boats are available. No licence is required for sea angling. All the necessary details are available at Reception.

Equestrian Pursuits - Rusheen Riding Centre (091 - 521285), Knocknacarra offers Trekking / Beach Riding. Feeney's Riding Centre (091 - 527579), Bushypark (10 minutes from Hotel) offers Trekking onto back roads of Connemara, lessons are also available.
