History

Barberstown Castle is one of the first
great Irish country houses to open up it's splendour to the outside
world. The Castle Keep was built in the early 13th century by
Nicholas Barby to guard it's inhabitants in medieval times.
The Elizabethian House, built in the
second half of the 16th century, is one of the few houses in
this area that has been in continuous occupation for over 400
years.
The Victorian House, built in the 1830's by Hugh Barton, completes
a heritage that embraces over seven hundred and fifty years of
